Employee Spotlight:

Aaron Deitz

Portfolio Manager
What do you enjoy most about your work at BSW Wealth Partners?

I enjoy working for a firm that is true to its values, which also align with my interests. BSW is leading a path forward on impact investing and I’m excited to be part of the investment group researching the best opportunities for our clients.  I especially enjoy being able to utilize my past career experience and using my voice to add valuable input as to the future direction of the firm.

What is your definition of Make Life Better?

Make Life Better is not just a statement; it is an action that we as employees at BSW do every day for our stakeholders and ourselves. Making Life Better is about finding the passions that drive our aspirations in life.  Money is just one of the many tools to help our clients realize their goals.

What do you love to do outside of work?

Outside of work I love to ignite my curiosity by traveling the world. Just as important, I try to be as true of a Coloradoan as possible.  You can find me snowboarding, hiking, biking, fly fishing, rafting, climbing, and camping.  When I need a break from the great outdoors, you will find me brewing beer at home which is one of my greatest passions.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Waking up in a cabin in the mountains after a night of heavy snowfall, surrounded by family and friends. The smell of coffee and the sound of music swirling through the house.  Gear on, ready to set off on an incredible powder day.  Followed by Après Ski with the sun shining while enjoying your favorite Colorado microbrew.  That to me is as close to “perfect happiness” as it comes.

Which talent would you most like to have?

One talent I would like to have is to be an excellent marksman with a bullwhip. I used one in Alaska to help fend off some Grizzly Bears from our campsite one night and I have been hooked ever since.  I received a nice leather bullwhip as a wedding gift from my friend who was in Alaska with us… Now the training begins!

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I hold the world record for snowboarding the most vertical feet in a 12-hour period. This pushed me to my limits both physically and mentally.  I knew this attempt would put me out of my comfort zone and would require more stamina than anything I have done in the past.  My family and friends were a huge support and I don’t believe I couldn’t have done it without them.

What is your most treasured possession?

My most treasured possession is my backpack which has seen months on the trail. It symbolizes the basic human needs such as food/water/shelter.  When backpacking, whether for three days or 25 days, everything you need is on your back.  It’s always a great reminder for me that you don’t need all the advertised material possessions to live a fulfilling life and be happy.
