Making Life Better from the Inside Out

April 30, 2019

In early April, BSW Wealth Partners was recognized on InvestmentNews“2019 Best Places to Work for Financial Advisors” list, our 2nd time being named. According to InvestmentNews, those named to the list are “role models for other firms in the industry who are striving to improve their own human resource policies and practices.”

Over the past several years, BSW has been included on Outside Magazine’s “Best Places to Work” list three times and we’ve been a consistent presence on the “Top RIA’s” list by the Financial Times, a prestigious award when considering there are more than 2,000 registered investment advisors nationwide. We are honored to have been awarded as regularly as we have been by such a wide variety of publications.

We thought it would be fun to give you a glimpse as to how we continue to achieve these lofty awards, and it all starts with the BSW company culture.

Since our firm’s founding in 1992, company culture has been a priority. Our founding members have followed a simple formula: value, empower and respect every member of the BSW team and the team will be happy and engaged; happy and engaged team members create excellent work; excellent work leads to exceptional client service and performance.

While the BSW founding members have done an excellent job building a strong foundation for our culture, as our company continues to grow it becomes ever more important that we work to maintain and build upon our core principles as a firm. So as part of our efforts to continuously improve, we recently completed a years-long process to solidify the fundamental values we live every day, and throughout the coming year we’d like to share a few of these values with you.

The first value that we practice every day is courage Why? Maya Angelou once said, “Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.”

What does courage mean to us?

It means we have conviction in our values when faced with uncertainty and we have the willingness to stick to our principles by trusting ourselves and each other. We always strive to approach tough conversations with the courage to speak our minds with tact and empathy, and more importantly, to listen to others with compassion and understanding. We don’t always have to agree, but we always have the courage to respect one another and invite open and honest communication.

We are courageous because we work together to create a list of values that define our company culture and then are willing to confront and remedy situations in which actions or behaviors diverge from these values.

We understand that everyone has fear – but we are courageous enough to face our fears head-on and move through them, and in doing so we set an example for how we can best help our clients face and move through their own fears.

Keep an eye on our blog to learn more about how we continuously take steps to be Thought Leaders in Innovation, our next core value.
