The Invest In Others Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to amplifying, celebrating, and inspiring the charitable work of the financial services community, recently recognized BSW CEO David Wolf with the Catalyst Award – Honorable Mention for his volunteer service on the board of the nonprofit American Institute for Avalanche Research & Education (AIARE). David joined AIARE’s board of directors in 2019, serving as Treasurer and as a member of the Executive Committee. Since 2017 he and his wife, Norie Kizaki, have funded educational scholarships for avalanche educators and professionals, with a focus on underrepresented populations, including the seventeen scholarship recipients profiled here.
AIARE’s mission is to save lives through avalanche research and education. Founded in 1998 in Crested Butte, Colorado by Tom Murphy, IFMGA guide Jean Pavillard, and IFMGA guide Karl Klassen, AIARE has emerged as the leading developer of avalanche educational curricula in the US. AIARE’s avalanche curriculum is used to educate more than 10,000 recreational and professional backcountry users each year, including guides, ski patrollers, and backcountry users.
Invest in Others is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to amplifying, celebrating and recognizing financial advisors who dedicate themselves to serving their communities and supporting nonprofit organizations. Since 2007, Invest In Others has awarded more than $7.5 million to 725 deserving and impactful nonprofits and charitable organizations. Invest In Others will be making a $2000 grant to AIARE to support their critical work.
“Being recognized by Invest In Others with an honorable mention for the Catalyst Award is awesome. Just to be included alongside such well-deserving fellow advisory industry professionals and the charities they support is humbling. It really shines a light on two amazing organizations: Invest In Others and AIARE. Over my 30 years in the mountains, I’ve experienced the tragic consequences of avalanche fatalities. Meanwhile backcountry usership is exploding — more than tripling since 2019 — with avalanche incidents recently reaching a 50-year high That’s why AIARE and its work is so important. AIARE and its curriculum saves lives. I’m grateful to Invest In Others for their support of AIARE. To celebrate this, I’ll be matching IiO’s grant and encourage others to also support AIARE by making a tax-deductible gift here!”
