The Unreasonable Institute meets annually in Boulder, Colorado, for a period of six weeks to mentor approximately 25 individuals from around the world. Each of these entrepreneurs has been through a rigorous screening process aimed at selecting only financially self-sustaining, globally-scalable enterprises that will impact the lives of at least 1 million individuals. At the opening event, each person had two minutes to speak to the audience and detail their background, their issue of focus, the number of lives impacted by this problem and their proposed solution. David Wolf, Elias Bachman and Debi Baydush listened and watched the podium as men and women from 45 countries described businesses to enable access to potable water, safe heating fuel, and innovative recycling; as they proposed processes to create organic compost from neighboring landfills, educate women in Afghanistan and Pakistan to eliminate oppression and help handicapped people run their own businesses; and as they filled the auditorium with their passion and drive.
Following the presentations, David, Elias and Debi spoke one-on-one with some of the entrepreneurs to better understand their plans to make an impact on our world, and the problems they have dedicated their lives to solving. These individuals are on the front lines of making money make change – turning ideas and hopes into reality. We look forward to seeing every one of them succeed.
