Colorado’s Front Range is located in the heart of “Hail Alley” which receives the highest frequency of large hail in North America and most of the world. According to statistics, residents can usually count on three or four catastrophic (defined as at least $25 million in insured damage) hail storms every year. In the last 10 years, hail has caused more than $3 billion in insured damage in Colorado. Most insurance claims for hail damage are filed in April, followed by May and June.

We spoke with Jessica Weir of IMA Select on how you should respond to a hail storm.

“We encourage clients not to wait – get ahold of a trusted roofer and/or auto body shop to receive an estimate and begin the claims process if necessary. Hail damage to your vehicle is obvious, however, damage to the roof can be difficult to spot so the sooner you can have an expert examine the roof, the better.”
